Washington Square Park: October 18th 2008 - New York, New York 12:30am start Home - Washington Sq. Park Investigators: Dom , Traci, Gilberto, Julien, Tony & Saint Reports: it was once a potters field in the late 1700's through the early 1800's for cholera epidemic victims, a military parade ground, and a place of execution. Up until 1819 the hanging tree was used for executions in what is now Washington Square Park. The tree used for the executions which is located in the northwest corner of the park, is one of the oldest trees on Manhattan Island. In the late 1800's excavations of the park area revealed corpses still in their funeral shrouds. Results: The park is still under construction and we were able to get as close as possible to the northwest corner. We did not witness any activity and nothing appeared on audio or photo. We plan on returning once the construction is complete.
